Ecommerce Website Services
Today, the barriers to ecommerce have been reduced such that the smallest business or organization can sell products or services online without much cost or effort. The simplest way to add ecommerce to an existing website is to integrate it with PayPal or Google Checkout.
Basic E-Commerce with PayPal or Google Checkout
Ecommerce is as simple as adding 'Add to Cart' or 'Buy Now' buttons next to the products and services you want to sell. With PayPal or Google Checkout, you don't need a merchant account with a bank, you don't need a secure website, and you don't need any complicated shopping cart/order management system. Just open an account with either PayPal or Google Checkout and follow the instructions. We can help you with these steps--contact us for a basic quote.
Use PayPal for Credit Card Orders over the Phone or In Person
In addition to using PayPal for ecommerce, with a PayPal Pro account for $30 per month you can use the PayPal Virtual Terminal to process Credit Card orders over the phone or in person. All you need is a computer with an Internet Connection (use your mobile phone for your Internet connection and you can sell from anywhere).
Swipe Credit Card Numbers Directly into the PayPal Virtual Terminal
You might also consider buying an inexpensive credit card swipe device (magnetic card reader) that reads your customers credit card information and sends it to your computer over a USB cable. We have developed software that works with the Firefox web browser that integrates using credit card swiping devices with the PayPal Virtual Terminal. Check out our Greasemonkey user scripts page for more information on the PayPal Virtual Terminal Credit Card Swipe script.
Shopping Cart Software for a Robust Ecommerce Solution
If you need a more robust ecommerce solution than PayPal, you might consider a 3rd party shopping cart software package. Full-featured shopping cart software systems include integration with shipping companies such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and others, as well as with payment processing companies such as Authorize.net. They also provide order management and marketing features such as special discounts, coupon codes and more. If you have many products to sell and are convinced that selling online will work for your business, this investment may be a good option.
